Handango is a site that sells 100’s of software applications for mobile technology and are a leading provider of mobile content.

They also have a quarterly report called Handango Yardstick that details statistics on:

“Top devices downloading applications and digital content
Top ten best-selling applications
Software sales by category (i.e. games, personal productivity, etc.)
Average selling price of applications by category
Most-searched for terms on more than 100 download stores
Average number of applications purchased
Much more!”

The latest report for the 2006 year end can be downloaded in pdf format.

While you may think that is is not really relevant to elearning and mlearning education blogs I find that this site holds a lot of content that supplies food for thought. You can have a wander through and see what is being developed. If you are considering having software developed your solution may already be available.

Currently I am involved in teaching Diploma student how to develop software for mobile devices and point them to this site for inspiration and as a starting point for possible sale of their software in the future if they decided to go ahead in this field when they have finished their studies.
